Overview

SeaBag is an offline-first app for U.S. Navy service members. It includes message and reference search, calculators, readiness tools, and a Brag Sheet tracker. This policy covers the app and the calculators on seabag.app.

We do not sell personal data or use advertising or usage-analytics SDKs. Core app features require no SeaBag account, login, or registration. Optional feedback, notifications, diagnostic sharing, and Google Drive features are described below.

Data on your device

SeaBag stores preferences and app data locally using device storage and SQLite. These include:

  • Your selected rate or designator, duty status, preferences, and personal planning dates.
  • Synced NAVADMINs, ALNAVs, MILPERSMAN articles, SRB entries, and other reference data.
  • Bundled or cached uniform and Navy COOL references, plus your bookmarks.
  • Calculator inputs and results when a feature needs to remember them.
  • Brag Sheet eval periods, dates, and accomplishment entries.

Reading activity, search history, and Brag Sheet entries are not sent to SeaBag servers as part of reference sync. You can choose to export or share local content through the features below.

Website calculators

The PRT/PFA, BCA, and FMS calculators run in your browser. Their inputs and results are not submitted to SeaBag, stored in cookies, or saved in browser storage. The site does not create a server-side record or save these entries between sessions.

The website loads its fonts, screenshots, and calculator data from the same site. There are no advertising or analytics scripts in these pages. Normal requests to load the website may produce operational hosting logs, as described below.

Reference sync and server logs

The app requests reference updates from api.seabag.app, which we operate. Sync downloads public reference material such as messages, MILPERSMAN, SRB data, and naval history. These requests do not upload your local notes or calculator entries.

Website and API logs may contain standard request metadata such as IP address, timestamp, requested path, status code, and user agent for security, troubleshooting, and reliability. We do not use these requests for advertising or create a SeaBag account profile from them.

Notifications

SeaBag uses Firebase Cloud Messaging and, on iOS, Apple Push Notification service for message alerts. Messaging setup may create installation identifiers and registration tokens used by those services to deliver notifications. These are not advertising identifiers.

Alert delivery depends on your notification preferences and operating-system permission. You can change your alert choices in SeaBag or your device settings. Notification services are used for app messaging, not advertising or behavioral analytics.

Android age signals

Where applicable, Google Play may provide limited age-range or parental-approval signals through its Play Age Signals API. SeaBag uses those signals for legal compliance and age-appropriate access decisions.

SeaBag does not independently verify age, collect government IDs, use facial age estimation, or ask you to upload age-verification documents. Verification required by Google Play is handled by Google Play. SeaBag does not use these signals for advertising, profiling, analytics, or sale.

Optional feedback

If you submit feedback, SeaBag sends your message, an email address if you choose to provide one, and basic app context: version, build number, platform, and a random install ID. These help us respond to requests and understand duplicate reports.

Feedback is used to investigate bugs, respond to questions, and improve the app. Please do not include classified information, medical details, SSNs, DoD IDs, or other sensitive personal information in a feedback message.

Optional diagnostic reports

The app can generate a diagnostic report for you to preview, copy, share, or attach to feedback. It includes app and operating-system information, the random install ID, reference-data counts and sync status, and notification status. The report is not automatically submitted to SeaBag.

An optional API health check sends a request to the SeaBag API. If you choose to share a report or submit it through feedback, the content goes to the destination you select. Review the preview before sending.

Optional Google Drive features

On supported Android devices, Brag Sheet export and restore can use Google Drive. If you choose this feature:

  • Google Sign-In asks you to authenticate and authorize the drive.file scope.
  • That scope permits work with files SeaBag creates or is authorized to access; it does not grant general access to every file in your Drive.
  • Export writes a formatted text brag sheet and a JSON backup in a SeaBag folder. Restore reads a selected SeaBag backup into the app.
  • SeaBag does not store your Google password. It signs out after the operation.
  • Your Google account data and exported Brag Sheet files are not routed through SeaBag servers.

These features are optional. The local tracker works without Google Sign-In. Google handles data under its Privacy Policy.

Other services and links

SeaBag does not use third-party advertising, usage-analytics, or data-brokering services. The operational services described above support reference updates, notifications, platform age signals, and optional Drive features.

When you open an official source, credential website, or app-store link, you visit an external service with its own privacy policy. Exporting or sharing to another app also puts the selected content under that service’s handling.

Children’s privacy

SeaBag is intended for U.S. Navy service members and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information through feedback.

Policy updates

We will update this page and its last-updated date when the policy changes. This revision adds website-calculator handling and clarifies notifications, diagnostics, and supported Google Drive features.
